1. Summary of the Week

From August 15 to 21, a total of 21 biopharmaceutical licensing and collaboration transactions were announced globally. Of these, seven were China-related, defined as transactions involving at least one China-based company. These comprised two out-licensing deals, one in-licensing deal and four domestic partnerships.

In China, the largest transaction involved Henlius and Sandoz for up to 10 preclinical- and Phase I-stage mAb and ADC biosimilar assets, including proposed cetuximab, evolocumab, and belimumab biosimilars, as well as an option for recombinant human hyaluronidase, with an upfront payment of $85 million and a total deal value of $322 million.

Outside China, 14 deals were announced. The largest transaction involved OmniAb and Eli Lilly for a new ion channel discovery program, with an upfront payment and potential research, development, and commercial milestone payments of up to $370 million, plus tiered royalties on global net sales.
