1. Summary of the Week
From October 1 to 16, a total of 66 biopharmaceutical licensing and collaboration transactions were announced globally. Of these, 17 were China-related, defined as transactions involving at least one China-based company. These comprised eleven out-licensing deals, two in-licensing deals, and four domestic partnerships.
In China, the largest transaction involved Abogen Biosciences and Novartis, including an exclusive worldwide license to ABO2203, and exclusive options to license other potential next-generation programs, with an upfront payment of $575 million and a total deal value of $7.8 billion.
Outside China, 49 deals were announced. The largest transaction involved Regeneron and Sanofi for multiple next-generation, long-acting immunology antibodies, with an upfront payment of $1 billion and potential milestone payments of up to $8 billion.
